THE YALE SCHOOL of Management in New Haven, Connecticut, has received a
landmark US$100 million gift from The Eli and Edythe Broad Foundation to
develop teaching and research programs devoted to strengthening the leadership
of America’s public school systems. The gift will fund the Broad Center at
Yale SOM and enable the creation of a tuition-free master’s degree program for
emerging education leaders and advanced leadership training for school executives.
It will also support an extensive research endeavor focused on how skilled
management practices can improve the performance of public school districts.
The new Yale SOM center will offer a one-year master’s degree in education
management for early-career leaders, as well as an advanced executive training
program for senior district leaders. The gift from The Broad Foundation will
enable the school to create new faculty positions for leaders in social science
research related to education and to build out a research infrastructure to benefit
other scholars in the field.
