Are freelancers happier than other professionals? Sixty-five percent of people surveyed believe they are, according to a September 2017 report by ReportLinker, which studies social and economic megatrends. The report examined people’s opinions about the “gig economy.”
Other key numbers from the report:
26% of respondents say they would consider leaving the traditional workplace to become freelancers or independent contractors.
29% of current freelancers say they enjoy the freedom of being their own bosses, while 23 percent say they appreciate the better work-life balance.
27% say the main drawback of being a freelancer is lack of retirement benefits. Nineteen percent cite low financial security and 18 percent point to lack of job security.
73% of freelancers feel a sense of purpose.
41% of freelancers work from home.
